His Mother Inspiration
Malakai continued by describing how his mother, who also appeared on the show, encouraged him to start singing when he was a little child.
When I was 7 years old, my mother had me join the community choir. Then I started secondary school, which opened more opportunities for me to perform in operas, concerts, and other events,” Malakai continued.
His mother continued by saying that when he was seven years old, she encouraged him to start singing after hearing him do a cover of Lukas Graham’s “7 Years.”
She said: “Every year they would perform for me because his older sister was in the choir. I told him when I first heard him sing, “You’re trying out for the choir.” I told him: “You’re not going to the party unless you audition” when he had a friend’s party.
After earning Simon’s coveted golden buzzer place at the Manchester auditions, Malakai continued by expressing his desire to pursue a career as an opera singer.
Following his performance, viewers praised him on Twitter, urging him to win the competition and declaring that he would be the ideal choice to sing for King Charles at the next Royal Variety Performance.
