About Maritime Academic Oron

The Maritime Academy of Nigeria is a federally owned educational institute in Oron, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Originally called the Nautical College of Nigeria, it was established in 1979 to educate and train shipboard officers, ratings and shore-based management personnel. The first batch of cadets graduated in 1983. In 1988 the college’s mandate was expanded to training all levels and categories of personnel for all facets of the Nigerian maritime industry.

HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA in:

• Nautical Science (2 Years of 4 Semesters).
• Marine Engineering (2 Years of 4 Semesters).
• Maritime Transport & Business Management (2 Years of 4 Semesters).

Admission for HND in Maritime Academy Oron | ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1.      HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) IN NAUTICAL SCIENCE/ MARINE ENGINEERING

i        Applicants must possess the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics, and any two of Geography, Technical Drawing and Chemistry, obtained at NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS.

ii      Possess a National Diploma in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or accredited  Institutions listed with Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

iii     Have completed a minimum of one year Post-National Diploma (ND) Industrial Training or evidence of one year Cognate Work Experience in a relevant organization.

iv     Candidates with PASS at National Diploma from Maritime Academy of Nigeria and other accredited Institutions must have completed a minimum of two years Post-National Diploma (ND) Industrial Training or acquired a two year cognate Work Experience in a relevant organisation.

1. HIGHER NATIONAL DIPLOMA (HND) IN MARITIME TRANSPORT & BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

i       Applicants must possess the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include Mathematics, English Language, Economics, and any other two of Commerce, Government, Principle of Account and Business Management,  obtained at NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS.

ii]       Possess a National Diploma in Maritime Transport and Business Studies with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or accredited Institutions listed with Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

iii]      Have completed a minimum of one year Post-ND Industrial Training or evidence of one year Cognate Work Experience in a relevant organization.

iv]      Candidates with PASS at National Diploma level from Maritime Academy of Nigeria and other accredited Institutions must have completed a minimum of two years Post-ND Industrial Training or acquired a two year cognate Work Experience in a relevant organization.
